Hummadruz receives grant from Arts Council of Wales
The Arts Council of Wales have given Hummadruz a Research & Development grant to continue our work partnering the Lenny Sayers Ensemble.
The project is called "THE COLOUR OF MUSIC" and involves Hummadruz devising and performing UV Theatre to accompany more of Lenny Sayers' compositions. Lenny is a wales-based Composer and Clarinet player with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and we previously worked together performing the first movement of "Scheherazade" and Lenny's music for "The Quangle Wangle's Hat"
The aim for our new project is to create UV psychedelic theatre to tell the story of Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" and Edward Lear's "The Owl and the Pussycat" which Lenny has already composed and performed on Radio 2 and elsewhere.
Our aim though is to replace all verbal language with UV puppets, dance, routines and illusions and see if we can make the poems accessible to all without language as a barrier.
We'll also be incorporating MAKATON within our work to increase it's accessibility to all, as well as adding symbolic gestures to our characters.
We'll be performing at Llanover Hall Arts Centre (who are also supporting us) sometime in January.
We'll let you know when!
Meanwhile, here's a short of video of ""Quangle" with Lenny and his musicinas drawn from BBC NOW and elsewhere.
Also check out Lenny's soundcloud page to hear more of his meticulous, beautiful and silly work!
